The Charlwood and Hookwood 150 Club is into it's third month now, and on the day that Prince William got the top prize in London, we drew our April 150 Club Draw at The Fox Revived, in Norwood Hill.
The occasion was the bank holiday Festival of Surrey Life, where Duncan and his team at the Fox had organised a celebration of life in Surrey, with lots of attractions and things to do. He also gave us a small slot at the microphone on Friday afternoon to make the draw in public.

It was with great sadness we learned of the recent death of our local councillor and resident, and great friend of the Community Plan, Councillor Don Webb.
His obituary on the Mole Valley website pays worthy tribute to him.
He shall be sadly missed. |

The first set of results from our "Love It Hate It Improve It" survey are just in. While we haven't yet completed the detailed analysis, we have been able to create some Wordles which give a real insight into the words that people have been using in their responses.
This is the current "Love It" Wordle. It seems to show that the words community and village are the two most commonly used words, followed closely by rural, countryside, friendly and spirit, although not necessarily in that order.
The "Hate It" Wordle is dominated by the word parking, but a slightly more detailed look at the responses reveals a village split. In Hookwood, people hate the inconvenience of holidayers cars being parked on their roads. In Charlwood, people do not like the fact that there is no public parking areas for use around the rec, the village hall, church and school.
The "Improve It" Wordle is again dominated by the words parking and village.

The Charlwood and Hookwood 150 Club is into it's second month now, and we have held the second Prize Draw.
The occasion was the Charlwood Local History Club walk in Glovers Wood. On their return from their walk, members stopped off in The Half Moon for some light refreshments, and we took advantage of their goodwill by deposing them as witnesses.

Runnng the community plan costs money, so we have been setting up a number of fund raising ventures. One of these is the 150 Club. For those unfamiliar with the concept, it's probably best if I explain what a 150 Club actually is.

We have distributed a new form to every household in the parish, called "Love It - Hate It - Improve It".
It is designed to give the residents of the parish the opportunity to tell us about things they like and don't like around the area.
